Did you start the new year with the intention to really go for that dream job? But are you not sure where to start? A few tips to get you started.

Know yourself

Finding your dream job starts with knowing what you want and can do. List what things you like to do, what you are good at and what possible jobs you could do. Also ask your environment how they see this. Do you recognize certain patterns? Or do you see new possibilities? By knowing who you are and what you have to offer, the first hurdle has already been taken.

Stop making excuses

Admittedly, change is terrifying. It is not without reason that all alarm bells in your body go off as soon as you try something new. That is to protect you, but it can also hold you back. Consider which limiting beliefs may hold you back. Isn't it the right time now? Do you think you are too young or too old to make that switch now? Or do you prefer 'security'?

Get informed

Do you have a rough idea of which direction you want to take? Then make sure you are well informed about the possibilities. Search online for vacancies with keywords that suit you, but be sure to also talk to others about your wishes. Who knows, they may be the missing link on the way to your ideal job. They can only help you with that if they actually know that you are looking for something.

Take action

It is very tempting to keep searching endlessly for that perfect vacancy, but the fact is that perfection does not exist. If a vacancy is not quite what you are looking for, realize that it is often quite possible to change it. It is even better to actively approach a company where you would like to work, in order to create possible opportunities together. Don't just focus on small imperfections, but take action. This is the only way to get moving.

Sell yourself

Perhaps the hardest thing for introverts: selling yourself during a job interview. You may feel that you are not expressive enough or that other things are expected of you than you can provide. Realize that, as an introvert, you have unique characteristics that are very valuable to a company. Accentuate it and don't force anything. Then you show the most powerful version of yourself during the conversation.
