As an introvert, you regularly need some time for yourself to recharge. Of course you can do that in your spare time, but it is just as important to make time for this during your week. That's why it's handy to have a few quick ways at your disposal that you can easily fit into your work week. A few suggestions.

Go for a walk

The lunchtime walk is perhaps the best way to recharge in a short time. Introverts prefer to spend such a walk in nature and on their own. If you don't have a park or forest nearby, make sure you are very aware of the environment. What do you hear, see and feel? And what thoughts come to mind? You will notice that taking a break from what you were doing will provide new energy and motivation.

Read

Introverts love to read because it offers the chance to look back and think about something. Do you notice that during breaks you tend to quickly check your social media? Then consider that at the same time, you may also be able to read a chapter from a book or an article from a magazine. Before going to sleep, it is also advisable to read on paper instead of a screen, because blue light makes it more difficult to fall asleep.

Get something to eat or drink

In most cases you will have to walk a bit for a drink or something to eat. A perfect way to take a very short break. Walking helps you to clear your head and while preparing your drink or snack you can organize your thoughts. Do you need a little longer thinking break? Bringing a round of coffee or tea for all your colleagues is a handy trick to take a little more time.

Watch your breathing

When you're busy, you tend to breathe faster. You can combat a rushed, stressed feeling by very consciously paying attention to your breathing. If you notice that you feel a lot of tension, breathe in slowly for a few seconds and then exhale at the same pace. Keep repeating this until you feel yourself calm down. It is good to stop and think about how you feel a few times a day, so that you do not go beyond your own limits.

Use headphones

Putting on headphones can help to avoid being disturbed. Make smart use of this at times when you want to recharge. For example, you can listen to an audiobook while shopping or listen to a piece of a podcast during your lunch walk. It will help you to spend less time in your head and you will also 'read' a lot more books in this way than ever before.
