We often tend to see what we don't have. As a result, we do not see or do not sufficiently see the qualities we do have. A missed opportunity.

For introverts, this usually means blaming themselves for not being more outgoing. For example, they make plans to 'learn' to be a bit more outgoing. While their real strength lies in being completely themselves and propagating what makes them unique.

It is not without reason that I start my book Introvert Leadership with the quote 'Whatever makes you different is probably your greatest strength.' It's a quote from Joss Whedon, a screenwriter and director. As far as I'm concerned, he's totally right, especially in the case of introverts. Their introverted strength is what makes them both different and powerful.

Not good

I too wondered for years how I could do things differently because I thought my more introverted manner was not right. In doing so, however, I ignored my own natural talents. By doing a lot of self-development, I discovered that my strength was not in adapting to what might be expected, but in communicating what distinguishes me from the rest. In my case, that's an analytical mind, a certain stubbornness that helps me see things differently, and a huge amount of energy.

By focusing more on the things that I'm good at and that make me happy, it became easier for me to determine my own route. A route that gives me even more energy and that really suits me. That is something I wish for everyone and that is I focus on this in my coaching programme. Want to know more about this? Please do not hesitate to contact me.
