As a leader, do you occasionally need a moment for yourself to recharge? Is networking still not your thing? And would you prefer to go straight into deep conversation instead of schmoozing with your colleagues? Chances are that you are an introverted leader.

For a long time I thought that as a leader you should always be the first one. That you should find it fantastic to give presentations, to be connected all day long and to come to the fore. Not exactly my first preference. Until I discovered that things can be done differently. An introvert like me has her or his own set of qualities.

"Quiet leadership is not an oxymoron" - Susan Cain

The introverted leader
My name is Karolien Koolhof, I'm a former journalist and I am currently writing a book about the different types of introverted leaders. It zooms in on all shapes of introvert leadership, the associated challenges, the major benefits and the opportunities for growth. In addition, eight Dutch introvert leaders share how they got to where they are now and give tips on how to use your full potential as an introvert.

By focusing on the power of introvert leadership, I want to tackle prejudices about introversion and false expectations. Because being quiet can also be a quality.
